As great travel enthusiasts, we wanted to pay tribute to a region we particularly appreciate, the first region we visited and that made us want to start this travel blog: Bucovina, a historical region of Eastern Europe.

Bucovina is located in the north-east of Romania, it is a historical region of Eastern Europe, situated in the north-eastern foothills of the Carpathians, politically divided between two countries, Ukraine and Romania. Its total area is about 25 000 km² with a landscape of hills and valleys, leaning against the Carpathian arc.
Bucovina is the cradle of an ancient civilization where history is intertwined with legends.
Bucovina and its monasteries
The Bucovina region is the northernmost region of Romania, bordered by Maramures to the west, the Prut River and Ukraine to the north, the Carpathians, Transylvania and the Romanian region of Moldova (not to be confused with the country of the same name) to the south, and Moldova to the east.
The most important cities are Bacau, Botosani, Galati, Iasi, Piatra Neamt, Radauti, Suceava, but what really attracts tourists to Bucovina is the route of the painted medieval monasteries, jewels of art thanks to the frescoes that decorate the interior and exterior of the temples. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, they represent one of the greatest attractions in Romania.
Nature in Bukovina
Bucovina has a very contrasting mountainous relief that shelters natural areas worth visiting. One of them is the Bicaz Gorge, one of the most magnificent gorges in Europe, which allows you to take the road that passes like a knife between the regions of Bucovina and Transylvania.
If we drive south, we will go up to a place no less exceptional, the Lacu Rosso (red lake). This lake, which today is a recreational area with rest areas and boats for rent, is known for the dead tree trunks that emerge from the water.
The climate of the Bucovina region oscillates between hot summers and cold winters where the fields are covered with snow.
