Ialomita River

 

The Ialomita River takes its source in the Mount Bucegi (the Southern Carpathians), take direction south east route departments Dâmboviţa, Prahova, Ilfov.

Ialomita flows into the Danube near the town Harsova and runs for 417 km. It harvests its tributaries from a basin of 9431 km square basin located in southern Romania.

The upper limit of the basin affects the peaks of mountains Leota, Bucegi, Clabucet Ciucas and the Carpathians and in the south to the Plain Baragan.

The communities through which the river are: MOROENI, Pietroşiţa, Fieni, Pucioasa, Doiceşti, Aninoasa, Targoviste, Răzvad, Comisana, Balen, Finta, Cojasca, Poienarii Burchii, Fierbinţi-Targa, Dridu, Urziceni, Manasia, Alexen Ion Roat, Sfântu Gheorghe Balaciu, Căzăneşti, Ciochina, Andrăşeşti, Perieţi, Slobozia, Cosâmbeşti, Bucu, Sudiţi, Tăndărei.

The towns are crossed by the river: Targoviste (the former capital of Wallachia County) and the town of Slobozia.
The main tributaries are the Prahova (176 km/3150 km ²)
Cricovul Sărat (80 km/609 km ²)
Cricovul Dulce (69 km/579 km ²). Hydrographical basin as a there are also lakes like Amara, Fundata, and Iezer Bentu.
