Valea Doftanei

Leaving the DN1 linking Bucharest and Ploiesti Prahova Valley, on the right is the city of Campina or was born and created in his lifetime the painter
Nicolae Grigorescu.

The writer Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu (1838-1907) is also linked here and the castle can be visited, was located 97 km from Bucharest.

The castle is known as the Temple of the Spirit and it was built between 1893 and 1896, according to the projects of the writer himself, dedicated to the memory of his daughter Iulia Hasdeu, poet, died of tuberculosis in 1888. Gifted child, Iulia Hasdeu had a special gift for languages.

His work, poems written in Romanian and French and plays, was published in Paris in 1889 and 1890 in three volumes. In Paris at 28 Rue de Babylone there is a plaque bearing his image.

The common Valea Doftanei is located north of the department between the rivers Prahova Prahova and Teleajen the course of the river which gives its name.
