Obcinele Bucovinei

The Mounts “Obcinele Bucovinei” represent the north-eastern part of Carpates Orientals. These mounts are located between the Plate of Moldavie (in the east), Valley of Bistrita with its affluent the river of “Carlibaba” in the west, the river of Suceava in north and the collar Mestecanis and the Valleys of Putna and Moldova, in the south.
There are three solid masses:

- Obcina Pond
- Obcina Feredeului
- Obcina Mestecanis

The mounts go down in staircase from the west to the east and they do not exceed 1600m.
In the west of “Obcinele Bucovinei” there is a line of the volcanic mounts (which start in Oas and finish in the Ciumatu mount.
“Obcina Mestecanisulului” is composed of the crystalline schist (highest)
The part Is made up of likings (Obcina Feredeului, Obcina Mare).
In the south Valley “Depresiunea Campulung Moldovenesc is” who take the shape of a broad corridor to the exit of the Moldova river of the mount.

The Mounts Obcinele Bucovinei were the subject of literary descriptions in work of the writers like Mihai Sadoveanu (in “Stories of the Beautiful Valley” or the novel “the hatchet” or they was described in poems of Nicolae Labis (1935-1956), poet born in Malini- Poiana Marului, known for its poem epic “the death of the hind”, a shooting star in Rumanian poetry.
“Flotation of Dorna with Piatra” it is a tale of the writer Alexandru Vlahuta who belongs to the book “Romania pitoreasca” (picturesque Romania), a traditional description of the landscape, which follows the course of the rivers which cross these mounts.

Spectacular reserves like the marsh of turbe of Poiana Stampei or the “Drills of Slatioara” Codrii Slatioarei.

The Mounts “Obcinele Bucovinei” are included in the mountain areas which include Rarau Giumalau E the country of Dorna, called “the tourist surface of Moldavie de Nord” or “the bucovinienne”.

The geographers agree on the fact that “Obcinele Bucovinei” is in their totality a natural reserve in which there are places like:

reserve it “Klippa triasica” Paraul cailor (the river of the Horses)
reserve it geological of Pojorata “Formation of Aptychus”
reserve it geological “Piatra pinului” (stone of the pine forest)
them reserves “Rachitisul Pond” and “Ciumarna”.

There are trees protected like:

- Ulmus Montana de Campulung Moldovenesc gràce at their age (600-700 years)
- Taxus boccata of the Park of Campulung Moldovenesc
- Fagus silvatica anntropurpurea of Gura Humorului

In same the places the monasteries of Voronet are, Humor, Moldovita, Sucevita.
On the Mounts “Obicenele Bucovinei” the historian V. Onciu said: He does not have another place in Romania, or in a space if restricted so many the memories essential for the life of the Romanians are”
The inhabitants keep ancestral habits of times of Dac as a practitioner their trades traditional wood, fabrics.

Villages entirety preserve architectural specificity bucovinienne, like: Ciocanesti, Pojorita, Sadova, Fundu Moldovei, Vama, Frumosu.

The furniture of the traditional houses is very out of wood, worked with the hand, forms artisanal laces present in the verandas, fabrics of the wells, guerit.

The Rumanian traditional costume is still kept in villages of “Obcinele Bucovinei” like Benea, Straja, Putna, Cicanesti, Sucevita, Varna, Vatra Moldovei.

The skins of lamb (“cheptare” and “bundite”) specific are embroidered glass shots and broadsides of fur of marten as well as the black pottery (Marginea, Cacica, Paltinoasa) the craft industry in the foliages of stag, the specific fabrics, the broad country leather belts for the men,

The costumes of the population of the “hutsule” of the villages Breaza, Benea, Moldova Sulita, Argel, Brodina, Ulma, Izvoarele Sucevei which keep their specificity, there are also specific objects like “stergarul negru” (the black cloth).

The popular tales of “Obcinele Bucovinei” were transmitted through time by famous folklorists like Simeon Florea Marian, Artur Gorovei and Alexandru Lambrior.
The habits of Christmas (canticles) and the New Year (Plugusorul, Capra, Ursul) as well as the popular songs, the dances, the “strigaturi” towards satirists or impromptu worms of love that people sing while dancing and who are accompanied by cries of joy kept during centuries their antiquated perfume.
