Bogdana

The church Saint Nicolas Bogdana of the city of Radauti is oldest monument hones some which remains in Bucovine.

It was built by the first voïvode of the independent Rumanian state of Moldavia.

Painting, prince Alexandru Lapusneanu also ordered the restoration original painting (restored later on to the XVIII - XIX 2nd centuries).

Frescos of the time of Etienne the large one remain however more interesting.

Compositions of the sanctuary (Cene, Communion of the apostles, Rectal injection of feet) which is partly similar with those of Voronet.

The church of Bogdana is the necropolis of Musatini, the first voïvodes of Moldavia.

Etienne the large one made decorate their stone tombs carried out by the Master Jan in 1480 in the technique of the flat relief, the decorative reasons are also bysantin-Eastern (palmette - sheet of palm tree stylized), supplemented elements autochtones (sheets of beeches, ash and elm).
