The stag of Carpates

The stag of Carpates dominate this area, following a massive repopulation these last years, it is widespread in the hills, the forests and the plains. Its body dimensions have those of Europe Western.Cerf des carpates - BUCOVINE.com Copyright © 2007

The stags are gregarious animals (says animals which live in group).
They divide into two groups the major part of the year (except period of reproduction):

On a side the females and their small, which form made herds several small cores where the hierarchy is very important and is noticed especially during the large gatherings.

The "chief" is nervous, vigilant and always very attentive, whereas the others feed quietly; if a noise, an odors, is worrying it warns his/her partners by small cries, the group shakes then, in the order and the discipline. The dominant hind opens walk (or the race), the "assistant manager" the farm.

In the males, all occurs differently, are they cowards, or quite simply independent.

Dominating is quite simply most extremely, it can tyrannize weakest, like letting them go in front of, and follow them remotely... It does not have any task of protection, if a danger occurs, the males save the ones behind the others, without any other distinction that the speed and the direction of the escape.

The oldest subjects will be the first to express their desire. The stags thus give up their districts, to join their partners; each male will be a territory (bridal piece) and will try to retain the greatest number of hinds. It delimits its territory while barman. The slab is also a cry of challenge.

Because of its vigilance to move away its rivals, to keep its females and its state of excitation, it will only be nourished very little.

Gradually, it will weaken and will be driven out by a younger stag... it will leave to join other stags in its situation (indifferent close relations but) to take again forces and to set out again with the attack of a harem directed by congener in its weakened turn.

Towards the end of the loves, each one little by little will separate, and take again its place until the next autumn.

Nevertheless, in spite of its apparent domination with respect to the hinds, if a danger occurs the stag
packs up like a rabbit, without occupying less world of its small "protected"; whereas they are not let go to panic, and save in the order of the established hierarchy.

In spring, about May, the hind will put low. It will separate from the group, and will not support any company, except its small of the previous year. After the low setting, it will remain close of the new-born baby until it is able to follow it and to join the group.
Biche et Cerf-

While waiting for this moment, the mother takes care on her small with enormously of attention, it never moves away much. When that it returns close to the nest, it makes turns and turnings, to put in rout possible predatory fawn, which are very numerous at the beginning of its life (eagle, fox, lynx, wildcat). If a problem arises, it will defend it, with all its heat, with blow of shoes.

As soon as the fawn cans it, it will follow his mother and will take little by little her place in the group, thanks to the play sham fight, race-continuation, etc.

The mottled dress of white that the fawn has since its birth, little by little will change, to become brown with the autumn, like that of his parents. At this period the fawn is called "young stag" mainly because of its weak and dégingandé aspect.

.
Only the male carries wood in March the stag loses its wood. Involuntarily, it will knock wood against a branch, a great dry cracking will frighten him, and it will leave at any speed, but while leaving its wood on the spot, however do not hope to find some, because those will quickly be devoured by the rodents which recover calcium of it.

At the beginning of the spring, it remakes its wood, which is covered with velvet, feeder skin. Those will be finished in July and will be stripped velvet, for the period of slab, thanks to friction against the trees.
