Biography
Stefan Luchian was it Rumanian painter with creation more remarkable. He was a spectator inspired of Nicolae Grigorescu and ion Andreescu, two famous fathers of Rumanian painting. It painted landscapes and portraits as much as it painted compositions and always life, particularly of the flowers. Its landscapes also show the interest for picturesque sights of nature for once and symbiosis enters the abundant vegetation and the human aspects for others.
1868 - February 1, the first child of Elena Chiriacescu and Dimitrie Luchian was born in the village from Stefanesti, zone of Botosani in Romania
1873 - The family of principal Luchian moves in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, and buys a house in the street of Popa Soare

1877 - Stefan November studies in the gymnasium "Sfantu Sava" in Bucharest, the father of the painter, Dumitru principal Luchian dies in Bucharest

1879 -1880 Stefan studies in the gymnasium "Sfantu Sava" in Bucharest

1884 - The first known painting - a small oil painting of a house has signed the "street Cl.III of Luchian ". It continues its studies of gymnasia with the private boarding school of Seicaru.
1885 - It starts to study at the school of arts in Bucharest, after it refused to answer the test of admission to the military college. The same year it starts to study the groove with the academy.

1888 - It made a success of the diploma with the contest of end of the year.

1889 - With the contest of end of the year it obtains the bronze medal for painting. In October it moves in Munich, Germany it is allowed at "Der Bildenden Künste d' Akademie ". Its professor is Johann Caspar Herterich. Luchian draws from the copies after Rembrandt and Coreggio.

1893 - In spring it returns to Bucharest and takes part with four paintings in the exposure "of the artistic round"
Luchian spends time as from July to October at Jugureanu, with his/her aunt Sevastia Mirzescu.

1894 - In spring it opens, like Titus Alexandrescu, small exposure in a workshop in number 11 of street of Regala, where it lived.
In May he is member of the jury of "the annual exposure of the artists alive ", the exposure which was organized after a 13 years interruption. Luchian show eight paintings with the annual exposure of the alive artists which was organized at Rumanian Athenaeum - between them also "Ultima cursa of toamna ".
In June it receives the third medal for the effect "of Effect of Luna" (painting shown in the museum of art Iasi, in Romania).
Stefan Luchian tries to obtain a station at the school of art with Iasi, Romania but, the contest like unjust sees.
In November it is present with 10 paintings at the exposure of the "artistic round of Cercului of Ateneu ".
1895 - In Luchian March is elected as vice-president of the "artistic round".
In May it receives an order by the direction of the monopolies of one large monastery of Manastirea "Tismana", which was supposed to decorate a boat.

1896 - In February Luchian buys a building in the boulevard of Kiseleff, with Bucharest.
The proclamation of the exposure of the independent artists, organized in No12. Street the Franklin one, Bucharest, is signed by Stefan Luchian, Artachino, Bogdan-Pitesti and Vermontn. Luchian shows 15 paintings and the critics consider it «true independent and modern artist ". The exposure was a protest against the abusive manner to organize the official exposure.

1897 - In spring it signs a contract, like C.Artachino and C.Pascali, for the painting of the church cathedral in Alexandria, Romania.
In July the company of Ileana was established and Stefan Luchian was member of committee.

1898 - In February the exposure of the company of Ileana is opened and Stefan Luchian presents 21 of its paintings.
In April it travels in Curtea de Arges, Romania for documentation concerning the painting of the church cathedral in Alexandria and in May it begins it work with this project. Towards the end of September work is finished and in November work is entirely accepted by the recipient. During all this time Stefan Luchian lived Alexandria.
During this time it meets a girl, Cecilia Vasilescu, and it start to teach its painting. An impassioned love connects both and they long letters write during more than one year. Towards the end of the year Stefan Luchian was severely sick, the first sign of the disease infectious which will torture it during years.
1899 - In spring Stefan Luchian organizes an exposure with N.Vermont at Rumanian Atheneum in Bucharest.
In May it moves in Tulcea in order to paint the church-cathedral and finishes it work in June. In June its plans to marry with Cecilia Vasilescu fail. In it November exhibe with the annual exposure of the alive artists. Two pastels are selected for the World Fair of 1900 in Paris.

1900 - At the same time as C.Artechino, Stefan Luchian signs a contract for to paint the church of Brezoianu in Bucharest. 1903 - In February Luchian opens a personal exposure to the Room of Assan (39 parts) all pastels and watercolour.
In March it takes part with 13 operations in the second edition of the exposure of artistic youth.
Luchian spends the summer in the thermal spa and it Constanta of Techirghiol, on the Rumanian coast of the Black Sea, and with Filipestii de Padure. In September it takes part in the international exposure of art in Athens. In December Luchian is still present with four operations at a new exposure of youth artistic.
1904 - In January Luchian takes part in an exposure organized in order to prepare are study trip in Paris.
Stefan Luchian has a personal exposure at Rumanian Athenaeum.
19 of work of Stefan Luchian are shown with the exposure of youth artistic and N.Grigorescu buys the watercolour "Of Bariera Filantropiei".
In summer the painter is in the thermal spa of Constanta and Techirghiol and painted marine landscapes.
In December a new personal exposure at Rumanian Athenaeum with 50 oil-bases paints of Luchian.

1905 - In April Luchian is present with 16 operations at the exposure of artistic youth.
In June it takes part with two operations in the exposure organized by the ministry acquisition of paintings but anybody does not become purchaser.
In December it is one of the participants in the permanent exposure Kunstverein to Hamburg, with painting "Crizanteme".

1906 - In March Luchian is present with 12 operations at the exposure of youth artistic and one of work is bought by Anastase Simu.
In August Luchian takes part in the exposure of the jubilee organized to the palate of arts and one of its paintings is bought.

1907 - In March Luchian is present with 10 operations at the exposure of youth artistic.
In December a new personal exposure at Rumanian Athenaeum.

1908 - In March Luchian is present with 12 operations at the exposure of youth artistic.
In summer the painter is present at the monastery of Brebu, with more than 30 paintings representative landscapes.
In December a new personal exposure at Rumanian Athenaeum with 84 work strongly appreciated by the public and the critics.

1909 - In March Luchian is present with 12 operations at the exposure youth artistic.
April 23 it moves with the square number 76 of Romania in Bucharest. In December - January it takes part in the Art exposure organized on the street of Catargi Rogue in Bucharest.
1910 - In March a personal exposure at Rumanian Athenaeum with more 80 operations.
In April Luchian is present with 18 operations at the exposure of youth artistic.
The opening of the museum of art of Simu in Bucharest and Luchian takes part with 12 works.
In November Luchian is present at the exposure of autumn of youth artistic. In Stefan 1910 Luchian painted paintings which are characteristics for its last period of creation.

1911 - At the beginning of the year the disease becomes critical and it is with the Sanatorium of Margaritarescu.

1912 - In April Luchian shows 9 operations with the exposure of youth artistic out 7 flowers of paintings.

1913 - In February it is returned visit by N.Tonitza, important painter of Romania.
In March Luchian shows 9 operations with the exposure of artistic youth out of which "interior" (Lorica)/Interior, the last painting of Stefan Luchian.

1914 - In February a personal exposure at Rumanian Athenaeum thus
That N.Darascu. A part of paintings are borrowed from the collectors deprived.
In April Luchian shows 3 operations with the exposure of artistic youth.

1915 - In May Luchian is present for the last time with eight operations
with the official exposure.

1916 - June 28 Stefan Luchian dies 48 years old; it is buried in cemetery of Bellu in Bucharest where many famous Roumanians are buried.
