Mircea Eliade Philosophizes
 

Mircea Eliade was born in Bucharest in 1907. Afterwards a four years stay in India, it returns in Romania, before exiling themselves in France, in the Forties, then with The United States in Chicago .

It publishes at 14 years its first article how I discovered the stone philosopher.
De1928-1932: stay in India where it prepares its doctorate which will become Yoga, immortality and freedom.

In 1945 it writes in Romanian prolegomena’s with the history of the religions, which will appear thereafter in French under the title of Treaty of history of religions for the first time in 1949
From 1957: professor of history of the religions at the university of Chicago.

It attended regularly the meetings of Eranos founded by CG JUNG with Ascona (Swiss),
Eliade started by not studying the place of the otherness of the cultures Western.
It insists on the irreducibility of the religious phenomenon and on the irreproachability of crowned

Any manifestation of crowned is demonstration of something of very other, of a reality which does not belong to this world in objects which form part integral of the profane world.

Thus the man in who appears crowned the shaman; priest remains a man like others.
However with the eyes of the religious man this immediate reality to be it or of the object in which appears crowned transmutes in contact with reality supernatural.

It is there the fundamental direction of the religious experiment. "The great mystery consist in the fact that crowned has suddenly appeared and that it is expressed, because, while going proclamation, crowned limits itself and historicism of it self ".

In all Theophanous, M. Eliade thus distinguishes three elements
- the natural object which continues to be located in its normal context
- the invisible reality or Very the other which forms the revealed contents
- the mediator who is the covered natural object of new dimension sacrality.

For Eliade, the historian of the religions has triple step:
- He is initially a historian, because each religious phenomenon is initially one event of the human history: to include/understand it should be replaced in its historical context.

- He is then phenomenologist. The historian of the religions studies hiérophanies of the manifestations of crowned of which the structure is identical to the scale of humanity.

- The third stage is the step hermeneutics. It is a question of deciphering it message contained in the religious facts, in order to make it available to the man of today.

For M. Eliade, there is a major cultural unit of humanity from universality of its symbolic system.
It dies in April 1986 in Chicago.
