Maestro Sergiu Celibidache

Sergiu Celibidache (1912-1996), one of the largest leaders of the history, was born in Roumania. After studies of mathematics, of music and of philosophy in Bucharest and Berlin, it becomes in 1945 co-director, with Wilhelm Furtwängler, of the famous Philharmonic orchestra from Berlin.

It leaves the German capital with dead of Furtwängler in 1954, andSergiu Celibidache directs in the whole world (in particular in Italy, Latin America and Scandinavia), gaining triumphs everywhere, and withdrawing themselves by conviction from industry disc.

Its two seasons with the head of the National Orchestra of France (1973-1975) remain in all the memories and were the subject of several recordings televised.

About the same time, it takes again a regular activity with the Orchestra of Radio of Stuttgart, where it will leave a major print.

Its exceptionally long and fertile co-operation with the Orchestra Philharmonic of Munich since 1979 will make of him an alive myth.
Its posthumous media recognition rests on the diffusion of recordings from this period by firm EMI, in agreement with its heirs. Deutsche Grammophon continued this leading work, in particular for the recordings preserved in Stuttgart and Stockholm.

Throughout its musical career, Celibidache looked further into the reflexion rigorous on its art and tirelessly transmitted this teaching in whole world, in particular during thirteen years at the University of Mainz, but also in Munich and Paris.

Four musicians, alumni of Maestro, constant in their action by sound wire, Serge Celibidache, and his assistant with the Philharmonic society of Munich, Konrad von Abel, decided to prolong its work by the creation of an orchestra and of reception facilities teaching into Franche-comté (France).
