Corvinesti Castle
 

Set up at the XIV century, at the top of a rock which dominates the small river Zlasti, the castle was mentioned for the first time in a document written in 1409, under the reign of Sigismund de Luxemburg.

From the architectural point of view, it presents three styles: Gothic, rebirth and baroque.
It was vastest and the most prestigious residence of the voïvode Iancu Hunedoara, which increases it in order to make a proud fortress of it.

Thereafter, the castle was embellished by the addition of turns and rooms of reception. The curtain of the keep, last defensive element of the castle which carries the currency “did not timber” (do not fear anything), as well as the Capistrano tower, of the name of a monk of the court, preserved their aspect of the time of Iancru de Hunedoara.

Have is allured by the room of the knights, and impressed by the tower of the bludgeons and the Blanche tower, this one was used as storeroom.

The room of the Parliament of Transylvania (“Dieta”) is decorated with painted medallions, representing several voïvodes famous, of which Matei Basarab in Valachie and Vasile Lupu in Moldavie.

In the northern wing, the “Loggia Matei” splendid veranda of Renaissance style, the first in Transylvania, gives on a part decorated with frescos, whose only the legend can be distinguished from the corbel, emblem of the descendants of Iancru de Hunedoara (Corvini).

The castle entirely was restored and arranged in museum of feudal art.
